The Sheffield Kite Fliers are affiliated to the British Kitesports Association (BKSA). As the BKSA is a national organisation it is sometimes preferred by local councils or other organisations to deal with a smaller club who are local to the area and more readily accessible. Therefore it allows each individual club to be able to negotiate directly with councils etc. working together to create a mutually acceptable set of conditions for each flying site.
As part of our affiliation all members of the Sheffield Kite Fliers must be members of the BKSA and choose the Sheffield Kite Fliers as their club each time they purchase or renew their membership.
Below are a list of our club policies and procedures that are required for our affiliation with the BKSA:
- Code of Conduct
- Child Protection Policy
- Safety Guidelines
- First Aid & Emergency Action Plan
- Risk Assessment
- Official Flying Site
The Sheffield Kite Fliers is run by a committee comprised of four positions. Between them the people who hold these posts make the necessary decisions required to run the club – for example logos, safety guidelines, website content, club fly-ins, etc. They are supported by other members who act as forum moderators, graphic designers, webmasters, and photographers etc.
The official BKSA committee is made up as follows:
- Chair: Jason
- Treasurer / Secretary: Anna
- Events / Trips Organiser: Paul (supported by Zoe, Liam, & Russel)
- Child Protection Officer: Zoe (Malcolm in post pending Zoe’s DRS check)
