  • This is our regular Thursday night flying site (during British Summer Time).

Lodge Moor (aka "Redmires") is the most frequently used spot, and you'll often find kite fliers up here not only at the weekend, but also during the week.

Behind the Sportsman Pub, Redmires Road, S10.

15 mins drive from the city centre, or the 51 bus to Lodge Moor. From town, follow signs for the A57 Manchester Road to Manchester (surprisingly!) and turn left onto Redmires Road at the Crosspool Tavern and Shops. Follow Redmires Road till you run out of houses. Shortly after, you'll see the Sportsman pub.

Please park in the car park immediately after the pub (rusty white gates), not in the pub car park.

    Review

Large field, with short grass, some soft bits at the top end, and a long grassy bit marking out a smaller section. Watch out!! There are two, small concrete posts on the field!!
Excellent in northerly or southerly winds, turbulent (re. lumpy!) with west/easterlies due to houses and trees. This is our main session, although as the nights draw in, it's abandoned in favour of Sat afternoons. Both sessions run throughout spring and summer. If it's raining, we head straight for t' pub! (We do that anyway, but usually as we run out of light/wind.)
