Anyone with an interest in kite flying, be it trick, power or traction, is welcome to come along and watch what we get up to. Our meetings are one of the best ways to get chatting about kites and asked questions. If you intend to come regularly, you will need to have your own equipment. If you don't yet have any kit, we are a friendly bunch and many of us are willing to let you have a go. However, please don't be offended if a particular member would rather you didn't borrow their equipment! NEVER launch a kite without first asking the permission of the owner!!

Please check our forum for details of our regular kite sessions, our frequently asked questions, and where we fly for how to find us!

Currently (February 2008) there is no membership fee - yes it's free! You will need to wear clothing you don't mind getting dirty (especially in winter), strong shoes, and just be in reasonable health. Flying stunt/trick kites is not as demanding on clothes, shoes, body, etc. as flying large traction kites but even so it's advisable not to wear your best clothes. Under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult

Beyond that please read (and obey!) our safety guidelines.

Anyone attending is responsible for their own safety and attends entirely at their own risk.

SKF at Gower

Insurance

For all traction activities (that is: flying a kite with the view of being pulled along) we require 3rd party liability insurance - most of the SKF members have British Power Kitesports Association insurance (£15 annualy) - this covers you for scudding, boarding and buggying. Certain festivals, inland sites, and beaches we use need this insurance as a prerequisite for doing kite traction activities.

For trick/stunt kite fliers no insurance is required - however it is advisable to have some form of cover. Some of our members use the Midland Kite Fliers for their stunt kite insurance.
